Advice for Trail Runners: The Brooks Men's Cascadia 17 has some significant updates. We're seriously impressed by the Sharp Green/Navy/Firecracker colourway.
Underfoot Feel
In a bid to create the ultimate trail running shoe, Brooks took inspiration from how mountain goat hooves function. If you look at the bottom of the Brooks Men's Cascadia 17, you'll see the different sections. The splits in the outsole enables each section to adapt to uneven terrain.
TrailTack green rubber, which covers the outsole, should stick to wet rocks and uneven surfaces. If you land on something sharp, an articulated Ballistic Rock Shield should protect your feet. This rock plate works with the outsole to adapt to undulating trail terrain.
While the Brooks Cascadia 17 won't feel overly soft, DNA LOFT v2 delivers great cushioning.
Upper Fit
The Cascadia 17 upper is supportive and controls lateral movement. The section that's visible around the forefoot area is a TPU toe cap and mudguard. It protects your toes from hard objects and adds durability.
If you're interested, the upper is PrintDyed. This saves 66% of the energy and 75% of the water required for the traditional dye process.
Idea Run Type
The Brooks Cascadia 17 performs on uneven rocky trails. We know runners experience lots of surfaces on trail runs. We recommend this type of grip if you're covering a wide range of terrain. As a result of the cushioning and protection, the Cascadia 17 should be comfortable for long distances.
This usually means that your running shoe will be at least a half size bigger than your regular shoe size though this can vary from brand to brand.
