Underfoot Feel
Salomon's Energy Foam midsole provides a combination of cushioning and responsiveness. Protective underfoot, particularly on sections of hard ground. Responsive, so that you can maintain your pace on softer terrain.
All Terrain Contagrip® provides traction and confidence on the trails. The lug depth is 3.5 mm. This means that the Sense Ride feel closer to road shoes than deep lugged fell or mountain running shoes. Confidence in the grip and traction on hard ground will stem from the fact that a lot of the outsole will be in contact with the ground.
While we want to focus on the positives and what these shoes are for, we also need to state what they are not for. The lugs will not be deep enough to provide adequate grip on very soft and muddy ground conditions.
Upper Fit
The Sense Ride's upper is flexible and lightweight. Durable 3D mesh should help to provide support without being overly restrictive.
Salomon's famous Quicklace® system helps to create even pressure distribution across the top of your feet. The Quicklace® system is great when your hands are cold and wet.
Ideal Run Type
The versatility of the Salomon Men's Sense Ride 5 Running Shoes extends to the distances they are suitable for. A great option for trail runs on mixed terrain over short to very long distances.
By mixed terrain, we mean the likes of concrete, rock and light forest paths. Nothing too muddy.
Shoe size is a personal preference and everyone's feet are different, but we want to ensure you avoid any pain or discomfort from bruised toenails, rubbing, blistering or pins and needles.
Your running shoes should have enough width to allow you to spread your toes and should have some space at the front (we recommend having a half to one thumb's width of space from the end of your longest toe to the front of your running shoes).
This usually means that your running shoe will be at least a half size bigger than your regular shoe size though this can vary from brand to brand.
